Why Study Abroad?

Studying abroad is a great way to enrich your experience academically, culturally and socially. You establish global networks plus you can receive full credit towards your degree for the units you successfully complete. If eligible, you can also use FEE-HELP to cover the tuition fees of equivalent units.

LCI Education Network Partner Campuses

LCI Melbourne offers currently enrolled students the opportunity to undertake a study period abroad at any one of our 23 partner campuses, in a related course. Student must have successfully passed a minimum number of units to be eligible.

LCI Melbourne also has agreements with a number of other universities and higher education institutions around the world, for study abroad opportunities.

Who can apply?

Students currently enrolled in design courses at institutions with a formal exchange agreement in place with LCI Melbourne. (The full list is available on our Affiliations page.) Applicants should be above average students who will be mid-way through their degree program at the time of the exchange.

How do I Apply?

  • First check with your home institution that they will support your application.
  • Next complete LCI Melbourne Exchange Application for Overseas Students (available at the bottom of this page) and submit this via your home institution’s study abroad office, together with:
  • Letter of recommendation from your home institution
  • Transcript of your Academic results
  • Your portfolio (under 10MB for emailed version)
  • Photocopy of personal details section of your passport.

(Please note that LCI Melbourne requires international students to have an IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent, in line with Australian visa regulations.)

Deadline for applications?

  • Trimester 1 - apply by mid-December (commence mid-February)
  • Trimester 2 - apply by early-April (commence early June)
  • Trimester 3 - apply by early-October (commence early December)

What happens next?

Once approved by both your home institution and LCI Melbourne, you will:

  • Be enrolled in agreed units and complete enrolment forms
  • Be required to submit evidence of student health care cover
  • Apply for a Student Visa - click here for further information. LCI Melbourne will supply you with an ECoE to facilitate your application
