TEDx Melbourne x LCI Melbourne — Can the Real Creative Please Stand Up

The conversation Melbourne needs to be having

On Thursday 11 June, LCI Melbourne hosts TEDx Melbourne for an intimate salon event with Dave King, Co-Founder of Radical Intelligence — the AI-native transformation company building radical AI capability inside organisations.

The premise is sharp, and worth sitting with:

Most of what we once called "creative" was just production. AI exposed it. Automated it. Removed the busywork. What's left is the real work — bold thinking, gut instinct, and ideas that don't come from a template.

For anyone working in design, brand, business, or culture, this is the question of the moment. Not whether AI will change creative work, but what creative work actually is once the production layer is gone — and who gets to lead in the era that follows.

Why we're hosting this conversation

LCI Melbourne sits at the intersection of creativity, culture, and commerce. Our campus in Collingwood is part of a global network of 11 institutions and we're home to Australia's only Bachelor of Business & Innovation designed specifically for the creative industries — a degree built on the premise that the future belongs to people who can think creatively and lead commercially.

Hosting TEDx Melbourne in our LCI Gallery is part of a broader commitment: to make our campus a civic platform for the cultural and creative industries, and to position Melbourne — already Australia's creative and cultural capital — as one of the most serious places in the world to study and practise the business of creativity.

About Melbourne

Melbourne is the #1 best student city in Australia and #5 globally (QS Best Student Cities 2026), Australia's #1 culture, arts and sporting capital (Study Melbourne 2025), the 2nd most culturally diverse and inclusive city in the world (Time Out 2025), and the most liveable city in Australia and #4 galobally (Global Liveability Index 2025). It's not an accident that the conversations shaping creative practice in this country are increasingly happening here.

Curious about the business of creativity?

The questions Dave will explore on stage — about what becomes possible when creativity is freed from production — are the same questions we work through every day with our students. If you're drawn to a career where creative thinking is the commercial advantage, our Bachelor of Business & Innovation might be where you're heading next.
