Overview

If you've always been drawn to the way spaces make people feel — and you want to turn that instinct into a career — the Online Diploma of Interior Design gives you the practical skills and design foundation to do exactly that. Over one year, you'll explore spatial design, materials, technical communication, and sustainable design principles, guided by mentors who are active in the industry.

About the Course

This diploma is built around the belief that great interior design is both thoughtful and purposeful. You'll move through three trimesters — Identity, Empowerment, and Innovation — each one building your confidence and capability as a designer, from understanding foundational principles right through to developing client-ready design solutions.

You'll learn through hands-on studio work, industry-informed briefs, and applied projects that reflect the real demands of residential, commercial, and hospitality design environments. Online students access the same depth of learning as those on campus — through virtual studios, live sessions, and flexible asynchronous activities — with optional access to LCI Melbourne's Collingwood facilities for those who want to use them.

Complete the diploma and you'll be eligible to apply for credit towards LCI Melbourne's Bachelor of Design Arts, with a clear pathway to further specialisation in Interior Design.

Opportunities

Getting a job is at the heart of the LCI Melbourne experience. Alongside your studies, you'll have genuine opportunities to build your professional network and your portfolio through industry projects, student exhibitions, and VIP events — the kind of real-world experience that makes a difference when you're ready to enter the workforce.
