Public transport
There are numerous modes of transport accessible to you in Melbourne.
Melbourne's public transport system is both convenient and affordable, with services extending across the city, suburbs and into regional Victoria.
Public transport is a good way to get to places around Melbourne, such as the Melbourne Zoo or the iconic Queen Victoria Market, famous for its fresh produce and hawker style dining during the summer.
You can take advantage of free tram zones in the CBD and ticketing for other public transport is easy with Myki, which is a reusable smart card that allows commuters to travel on buses, trams and trains. You can top up remotely before your journey and then touch on and touch off at a Myki reader when travelling.
For more information on accessing and paying for public transport, please see Public Transport Victoria.
