About the Course

This hands-on short course guides participants through the full creative process—from concept development to garment construction and professional presentation—delivered across three progressive modules*:
  • Module 1
    Foundations of Fashion Design
    • Explore fashion roles and visual storytelling
    • Design a 3-look capsule collection
    • Master fashion illustration techniques

    Start Date: 31 January, 2026.

  • Module 2
    Garment Realisation

    Part 1

    • Learn pattern cutting and sewing fundamentals
    • Construct a wearable outfit from your collection
    • Refine design through draping and toiling

    Start Date: 14 February, 2026.

  • Module 3
    Garment Realisation

    Part 2 + Showcase

    • Create a second garment from your mini collection
    • Build a professional portfolio
    • Present your creative vision in a final critique or showcase

    Start Date: 14 March, 2026.

Opportunities

Engage with industry-standard tools and creative technologies in a hands-on learning environment

Students gain access to 3D printers, sewing machines, and scanning equipment, with opportunities to explore pattern drafting, fabric sourcing, and styling using professional studio spaces.

Admissions Criteria

No prerequisites.

All students enrolling in an LCI Melbourne short course are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI), as mandated by the Australian Government. If you do not have a USI, you can create one at www.usi.gov.au.

  • Open to domestic students only.

  • Students must be 18 years or older at the commencement of the course.
