LCI Melbourne's New Head of Fashion: Darran Arabin-Gander.

Darran Arabin-Gander joins LCI Melbourne as the new Head of Fashion. With over 20 years of experience in the fashion industry and higher education, Darren is an invaluable addition to our creative community.

Darran's career is marked by his interdisciplinary approach to fashion and textile practice.

Focusing on the power of the drawn image, Darren’s research explores how drawing can intersect with art, photography, film, installation methodologies and exhibition forms, pushing the traditional limits of fashion practice.

Over 20+ years, Darran has mastered pattern cutting, draping, product realisation, toile fittings and catwalk development.

Darren’s professional journey includes collaborations with icons in fashion, such as Christian Lacroix and Giles Deacon. His academic career is equally impressive, having lectured at prestigious institutions including Central St Martins, the Royal College of Art, London College of Fashion and many more across the globe.

Fashion consultant, trend analyst, costume designer and art director.

Darren has contributed to the work of international icons like Madonna and George Michael and was part of the design duo behind Kylie Minogue's iconic white catsuit from the 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' music video—a look that has become legendary in the fashion world.

"Always have fun; humour is a big part of my style.”

With such a rich and varied background, Darran is set to inspire the next generation of fashion and costume students and we look forward to the fresh perspectives and creative leadership he will bring.

“My main objective is cultivating a new generation of designers equipped with classic techniques and innovative design thinking. I bridge the gap between commercial acumen and creative expression to ensure industry-ready and design-forward students.”
