LCI Melbourne Students Light Up Melbourne Fashion Week

Melbourne once again proved why it stands as Australia’s No. 1 arts and cultural capital with the return of Melbourne Fashion Week (M/FW), a vibrant celebration of creativity, innovation, and design excellence.

The annual event brings together established and emerging designers, transforming the city’s most iconic venues into runways that showcase the heartbeat of contemporary fashion.

Among the week’s most anticipated highlights is the Student Collections Runway, a sold-out event that offers a glimpse into the future of fashion. This year, eight talented LCI Melbourne Bachelor of Fashion & Costume Design students took centre stage, each expressing their own unique creative voice through collections that captivated audiences and industry alike.

From exploring the architecture of dollhouses and the psychology of identity to reimagining sustainability, gender autonomy, and movement, each designer’s work reflected a distinct perspective shaped by both personal experience and global awareness.

“What makes our students truly remarkable,” says Darran Arabin-Gander, Head of Fashion at LCI Melbourne, “is their ability to translate complex ideas into tangible, wearable art. They design with purpose - blending imagination, technique, and a deep understanding of how fashion connects people and culture. This year’s Melbourne Fashion Week was a testament to that courage and creativity.”

At LCI Melbourne, our philosophy that The World Is Your Classroom comes to life through real-world industry engagement. Opportunities like Melbourne Fashion Week enable students to collaborate with professionals, gain practical insights, and experience the transformative power of design on a global stage.

Through bold expression, craftsmanship, and collaboration, our students continue to redefine what it means to be Different by Design.

A huge congratulations to: Ella Atkins (Finalist), Valentina Barrios, Bryanah D’Costa, Margaret Hogan, Caroline Tjhaj, Rhiannon Todd, Leah Wilkinson and Jordan Williamson.
