Our students took part in an inspiring workshop led by the renowned Slow Art Collective—an artistic groupcomprisingof founding members andtalented artists, Dylan Martorell and Chaco Kato. The collective focuses on creativity, environmental sustainability, material ethics, DIY culture, and collaboration, with a strong emphasis on process-driven practices that celebrate the act of making.
During the interactive session, students delved into the essence of art's purpose. They explored how artists use their creative expressions to communicate messages, evoke emotions, and infuse their personal experiences into their works. The workshop also highlighted the significance of the slow art movement, which encourages viewers to spend more time engaging with each artwork, fostering a deeper and more meaningful connection.
Facilitated by the brilliant mind of an LCI Melbourne mentor, Dean Golja, connected students with industry to provide them with profound insights into the motivations and intentions driving artists' creativity. By unravelling the purpose of art, our students were inspired to embrace their own creative journeys, seeking deeper meanings in their work and ultimately becoming influential change-makers in the world of art and design.
"Within the realm of artistic expression, purpose has its axis in the mystery of existence and its circumference in truth."
Dean Golja, Academic Mentor
